Background
Sophie Slater graduated in 2010 with a first class Ba(Hons) in Printed Textiles & Surface Pattern Design and has gained a wealth of experience as a fashion print designer, working in both retail and studio settings before becoming freelance in 2017.

During her career, she has worked across a wide variety of products and styles including women’s casualwear, swimwear, occasionwear, nightwear, accessories, menswear and childrenswear. With the ability to design in a variety of styles, Sophie’s handwriting is clean, contemporary and trend-lead. She is drawn to creating print designs inspired by her love of nature, whether it’s a cute and fun ditsy, a bold graphic floral or a painterly animal skin.
Life as a Designer
After moving from London, Sophie is now based in her hometown of Brighton, a creative and vibrant city on the south coast of England. Living by the sea, Sophie embraces her strong connection with the water through swimming and stand-up paddle boarding. With a love of the outdoors and spending time in nature, she can often be found walking along the promenade or hiking in the surrounding countryside. A keen runner and yoga enthusiast, these activities encourage Sophie’s creativity to flow.
Sophie is passionate about design and is committed to helping her clients achieve the best for their brands. Whether it’s working with a theme from the initial concept stage or simply creating a few prints from a design brief, Sophie really enjoys how interesting and varied life as a freelance print designer can be. She loves working collaboratively and thrives on the challenge of a new project.
